Le Santa Hold & Win Review: First Look

Le Santa Hold & Win slot: base game

Le Santa Hold & Win is a 3-reel, 9-line Christmas Hold & Win slot by Hacksaw Gaming, and this Le Santa Hold & Win review previews it ahead of its 8 December 2026 release. The headline finding: a single Rainbow scatter opens the Hold & Win, but the ceiling is a modest 2,500x, the same as the GRAND jackpot.

First look

7.6/10How we rate

Pre-release score, from the pre-release demo; scored again on release day.

On the pre-release build we recorded on 3 November 2026, Le Santa felt like Hacksaw taking a familiar Hold & Win format and giving it Le-series attitude. The single-scatter trigger and the Clover-into-Bag-of-Gold order of operations give the bonus some real decision-free drama. The base game, though, was thin in our 100 spins, and the 35x buy struggled to pay its way across 10 rounds. The 100x Rainbow Epic Drop™ option looked like the version with the most punch, but our sample is far too small to call it, and the maths may change before release.

Pros

  • A single Rainbow scatter triggers the Hold & Win, and coins also pay in the base game
  • Multiplicative Clover multipliers up to x20 feed into Bag of Gold collections
  • Rainbow Epic Drop™ opens on a full grid of special symbols with a Bag of Gold included
  • A 35.67% stated base-game hit frequency keeps the small grid ticking

Cons

  • The 2,500x max win is low next to other Le titles
  • Both FeatureSpins™ options return less than the base game's default figure
  • The base game paid back just 52.4% in our 100 spins with no Hold & Win
  • The 35x and 100x buy prices escalate quickly on a 2,500x ceiling

Highlights

  • The studio lists a default RTP of 97.48% and a max win of 2,500x, with max-win odds of 1 in 900,000 rounds.
  • Just one Rainbow scatter is enough to start Rainbow Fortune Hold & Win, and one Epic Rainbow scatter starts the full-grid Rainbow Epic Drop™ version.
  • The two FeatureSpins™ options cost 35x and 100x the bet per spin and stay switched on until you disable them.
  • In our 10 recorded Rainbow Epic Drop™ spins, the best single round paid 560x at spin 8.

What happened in our test sessions?

On 3 November 2026 we ran three automated, recorded sessions on the pre-release demo build, using play money on turbo autoplay. The build may still change before launch.

  • Base game, 100 spins at 1x: staked 100x, won 52.4x, a 52.4% payback. No Hold & Win triggered. 29% of spins won something, against the studio's stated hit frequency of 35.67%. The biggest hit was 13.4x at spin 33, a coin win built from two Bronze and two Silver Coins. The longest dry run was 13 spins.
  • Rainbow Fortune Hold & Win FeatureSpins™, 10 spins at 35x: staked 350x, won 288x, an 82.4% payback. Every spin paid something, and the best was 58.8x at spin 6.
  • Rainbow Epic Drop™ Hold & Win FeatureSpins™, 10 spins at 100x: staked 1,000x, won 1,226x, a 122.6% payback. Every spin paid, and spin 8 landed 560x.

These samples are tiny. A few hundred spins and a handful of buys show how the game played for us, not what to expect, and results swing a lot between sessions.

Base game vs the two FeatureSpins™ buys

There are three ways to play, all with the same 2,500x ceiling:

  • Base game, 1x the bet per spin. You wait for a Rainbow or Epic Rainbow scatter to drop. In our 100 spins neither did, so all the action came from line hits and coin collections.
  • Rainbow Fortune Hold & Win FeatureSpins™, 35x the bet per spin, RTP 96.29%. Every spin plays out the Hold & Win with 3 refilling lives, Coins, Jackpot Markers, Bag of Gold and Clover symbols. Our 10 spins all returned something, but none came close to recovering the 35x price. The best was 58.8x.
  • Rainbow Epic Drop™ Hold & Win FeatureSpins™, 100x the bet per spin, RTP 96.28%. Each spin starts from the full grid of special symbols with a Bag of Gold included. This was the only mode that finished our session ahead, thanks largely to the 560x round.

Both buys are labelled high volatility in the menu, and both carry a lower return than the base game's default figure. FS symbols cannot land while either is active, and FeatureSpins™ keep running until you press DISABLE. With 10 spins per buy, our results show what happened in those sessions only, not what either option will do over time.

How Le Santa plays

This is a compact 3-reel, 3-row grid with 9 fixed paylines paying left to right from the leftmost reel. Line wins come from A and K royals plus stockings, Christmas trees and pipe-smoking snowmen. The studio's story has Smokey, the sneaky elf, going after wrapped gifts and two Hold & Win games. On screen, the star is a scowling raccoon in a Santa suit with a candy cane, who blurts "Zut alors!" on a win in true Le-series style.

The real engine is the coin layer. Coins and Jackpot Markers can land in the base game, and three or more of them anywhere on the grid pay out once regular line wins are settled. That is why our biggest base-game hit came from coins rather than a line. The four Jackpot Signs sit left of the reels, and the GRAND at 2,500x doubles as the game's max win, which is reachable in every mode.

If the max win is hit, the round ends immediately and any remaining feature play is discarded. The game will release on 8 December 2026.

Le Santa Hold & Win features

Bronze, Silver and Gold Coins

Coins reveal a cash value as a multiple of your bet when they form part of a win. Bronze Coins carry 0.2x, 0.4x, 1x or 2x. Silver Coins carry 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x or 9x. Gold Coins carry 10x, 20x, 30x, 40x or 50x. In the base game you need three or more Coins or Jackpot Markers, in any mix, for them to pay. Our stills showed Bronze and Silver Coins scattered across the grid on several of the base game's better spins.

Jackpot Markers: MINI to GRAND

Jackpot Markers count toward the same three-or-more collection as Coins and award a fixed jackpot based on your current bet: MINI 5x, MAJOR 25x, MEGA 250x and GRAND 2,500x. The values are always shown on the Jackpot Signs beside the reels.

Rainbow scatter

Land one Rainbow scatter in the base game to start Rainbow Fortune Hold & Win. You get 3 lives on a Life Meter, shown as hearts beside the grid. Only Coin, Jackpot Marker, Bag of Gold, Clover and Dead symbols can land, and Dead symbols pay nothing. Every non-dead symbol that lands sticks and resets lives to 3. The round ends when the lives run out. Rainbow scatters can never land on the same spin as Coins or Jackpot Markers.

Clover multipliers

Clovers can only land when Coins are already on the grid or land alongside one. They activate at the end of the Hold & Win and multiply the values of all Coins and any activated Bag of Gold symbols. The multipliers are x2, x3, x4, x5, x6, x7, x8, x9, x10, x15 or x20, and they stack multiplicatively. If a Clover and a Bag of Gold land together, the Clover fires first.

Bag of Gold collector

A Bag of Gold also needs a Coin present or landing with it, and only one can land per spin. When it lands, it reveals every Coin value and activates any Clovers. It then collects all Coin values and other activated Bags, storing the total, and the collected Coins are removed from the grid. That frees up space for the next sticky landings. Jackpot Markers are revealed after the Bag activates and paid before the next spin. The coin sack next to the leftmost reel, which fills up on screen, is purely visual.

Epic Rainbow scatter

One golden Epic Rainbow scatter starts Rainbow Epic Drop™ Hold & Win. It runs on the same rules as Rainbow Fortune, but it begins with a full grid of Coin, Jackpot Marker, Bag of Gold and Clover symbols in any combination. That opening grid always includes at least one Coin and one Bag of Gold, and every Coin that lands is worth at least 1x. The screen picks up a rainbow glow when this version is in play.

Who is Le Santa Hold & Win for?

This slot suits Hacksaw regulars who enjoy the Le-series humour but want something calmer than the usual sky-high ceilings. The 2,500x max win is well below Le Clubber at 10,000x and Le Gift Grabber and Le Vampire at 15,000x. The trade-off is a stated 35.67% base-game hit rate and a coin-and-collector loop that keeps the small grid busy.

If you chase five-figure multipliers, this will feel capped. If you like classic Hold & Win sticky-symbol tension with Clover multipliers stacking onto a Bag of Gold, it fits the bill. Keep in mind that the GRAND jackpot is the whole ceiling, so there is no hidden upside beyond it.

FAQ

Can I try Le Santa Hold & Win for free?

We recorded our sessions on a pre-release demo build with play money ahead of the 8 December 2026 launch. Free play mirrors the real game's features, but that build may change before release.

Does the gold coin sack next to the reels affect wins?

No. The game's rules state that the Coin bag animation beside the leftmost reel is purely visual and has no effect on outcomes.

How rare is the max win in Le Santa Hold & Win?

Hacksaw Gaming puts the odds of the 2,500x max win at 1 in 900,000 rounds. When it is reached, the round ends at once and you are paid.

Can more than one Bag of Gold land at once?

No. Only one Bag of Gold can land per spin, though previously activated Bags stay on the grid and can be collected by a later one.
